Cybersecurity for Smart Industry: a seminar on new challenges for cybersecurity
On April 3rd 2025, CRIT, C4SI (Cybersecurity for Smart Industry) project partner for the activities of dissemination and exploitation, organized a relevant seminar for Emilia-Romagna SMEs. The seminar focused on the challenges and opportunities related to cybersecurity for connected production plants and machinery.
Professors Mirco Marchetti and Mauro Andreolini from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Francesca Merighi, Cyber Security Officer from SACMI and Nicolò Zini, Technical Solution Advisor from VEM, dicussed the implications of the new European Machinery Regulation, with particular focus on the Zero Trust paradigm, advanced authentication and operational security monitoring. Thanks to their view and experience they created a useful debate on the risks and opportunities related to the protection of connected and interconnected plants and machinery.
The seminar was also the occasion to present the ad-hoc questionnaire created by professor Marchetti to analyse the level of IT security within Emilia-Romagna SMEs. If you wish to contribute to the collection of useful data for the purposes of the project, you can fill in the questionnaire here.
